JOB PROFILE

Our client is a successful international marine and subsea contractor based in Chelmsford. They are looking to expand their offshore installation team by recruiting an Offshore Installation Engineer.

When on offshore cable installation activities, reporting into OIM and supporting as required for activities such as but not limited to:

·Export and Interconnector and inter array cable installation
·Trenching and burial operations using; owners equipment or sub-contracted in subsea equipment
·Shore end operations Pre lay grapnel operations
·Terminations supervision
·Cable loading
·Mobilisation of Subsea equipment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Owners representative for offshore subsea operations such as, such as Ploughs, ROV burial, MFE, PLGR, boulder clearance or UXO survey.

When competent and as required, work in an acting capacity as Deputy offshore installation manager on cable installation or burial operations.

Preparing front end engineering procedures for both pre contract Tenders and post contract cable installation activities, especially involving submersible assets, based from Chelmsford office or other group offices as required.

Key duties would include:

·To assist OIM to ensure each operation of a particular project has been carefully planned and that procedures are documented and understood by the offshore personnel in advance of commencing offshore operations.
·To assist OIM to ensure that offshore operations are conducted in accordance with the documented plans and procedures. If these plans and procedures are changed during the course of operations, for whatever reason, any revised plans or procedures are to be fully discussed and agreed with the Project Manager and subsequently documented.
·To be in charge of shift conducting cable working operations in line with method statements.
·Cable operations include but not limited to, Export cable installation, Inter array cable installations, Trenching, terminations, shore end operations, cable loading.
·Where required to provide input in the pre and post contract development phase of a project to ensure that the project procedures are an accurate reflection as to how the work will be carried out offshore, this will involve working from office.
·To assist OIM to be responsible for the conduct of company employees and company sub-contractors on-board.

SKILL & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications required:

·Educated to BEng (Hons) in Mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent; or
·Educated to either HND, Deck/Engine OOW Certificate of Competency, or
·Subsea or other suitable offshore qualification with suitable seagoing experience.

Preferred Experience:

·Knowledge of the Power cable installation operations from Barges and DP vessels in the Utilities, Oil & gas and Renewables sector.
·Practical Experience in offshore environment
·Good interpersonal and leadership skills and an ability to communicate in spoken and written English

If from Subsea background

·Be fully competent to IMCA subsea competencies
·Suitable Offshore Personal Medical Certificate – ENG 1 or equivalent
·Offshore Personal Safety and Survival Training and/or BOSIET
